Luggage to Love

By Diane Albright CPO, Organizing Expert and Speaker
June 23rd, 2010

If you are in need of purchasing new luggage, I highly recommend buying luggage with 4 wheels on the bottom instead of 2. The 4 wheels allow you to steer and maneuver your luggage in any direction seamlessly. If you are going down a crowded aisle your can turn luggage the narrow way to easily squeeze by. Matter of fact, just spin your luggage around and you can easily fit down a narrow bus or airplane aisle.

With 4 wheels on your luggage you don’t have to tilt your suitcase down and bear the weight of the suitcase as you pull it along. With 4 wheels you can keep the luggage standing upright and just push it along. Pushing is easier because you have your weight behind the push.

The only downside to having 4 wheels on your luggage is that it can easily roll. It rolls so easily that driveways with a slope can be problem. You wouldn’t want to set your luggage at the top of the driveway, especially if you live in San Francisco. Perhaps one day they will add a brake lever to 2 of the 4 wheels, similar to a baby stroller.

Once you own luggage with 4 wheels I don’t know if you can ever go back. I have the Samsonite Spinner and love it. I know that if I was challenged to an obstacle course with my Samsonite Spinner I could surpass anyone with a piece of luggage with 2 wheels.

Happy luggage maneuvering!

Christmas Decorating Made Easy

By Diane Albright CPO, Organizing Expert and Speaker
December 7th, 2009

The trick to easy holiday decorating is having Command™ Hooks on hand. 3M’s Command™ line allows you to put hooks where you never thought possible since you don’t have to worry about being left with a nail hole afterward.

These hooks can be put on smooth and semi-smooth surfaces such as walls with paint or wallpaper; glass, windows, mirrors, wood, and metal. The small clear hooks are ideal for hanging strings of Christmas lights on fireplace mantles, mirrors, windows and doors. The large hooks are ideal for hanging Christmas wreaths or other decorations on windows, walls, and doors. The possibilities with these hooks are endless since there is no surface damage left behind.

Each Command™ hook comes with a double sided adhesive strip. You place the strip on the hook, then remove the adhesive backing from the other side, press the hook firmly against the surface. Then clip your string lights under the small clear Command™ hooks or hang your wreath on a larger hook.

Removing the hook is just as easy. To remove, pull straight down on the adhesive strip. As you pull down drag your knuckles along the wall or surface to insure that you are pulling straight down. As you pull down the strip stretches and the adhesive releases. It really couldn’t be any easier. It just takes seconds to attach or remove Command™ hooks.

Add Command™ hooks to your shopping list to make decorating and organizing a breeze. 3M often offers a coupon for Command™ at commandcoupon.com. Be sure to check their website.

You can find Command™ products at a variety of stores such as grocery, hardware, craft, and office.

I wish you quick and simple Christmas decorating!

Hang Up Papers or Photos

By Diane Albright CPO, Organizing Expert and Speaker
June 9th, 2009

Sometimes the simplest things can make life so much easier. In this case, I am referring to the Command™ Quick Clips from 3M. The Quick Clips can be used at home, in the office, or at school to simply hang up papers or photos where you never thought possible.

The Quick Clip is a small clear clip that adheres to almost any smooth or semi-smooth surface, such as walls (with paint or wallpaper), wood, metal (your refrigerator, washer, or dryer), tile, glass, and mirrors. Command™ strips allow you to decorate and organize damage-free with no tools, nails, or screws needed. The Command™ strip has special adhesive technology, so when you are ready to remove the Command™ adhesive strip, simply pull straight down and as the strip stretches, the adhesive releases. Walla, the adhesive strip is off with absolutely no surface damage.

When it comes to Quick Clips, all you really need is your imagination as you decide where best to hang a schedule, a list, a photo, or a piece of your child’s artwork. You can put a Quick Clip inside your kitchen cabinet door, on your stainless steel refrigerator, or on your cubicle walls at work.

If you are considering trying the Quick Clips by Command™ or other Command™ products, take advantage of $5.00 in coupons from 3M at www.commandcoupon.com. The coupons expire June 22, 2009, so hurry on in now to a store carrying 3M products. You’ll be sure to find Quick Clips at Target, Wal-Mart, Meijer, and Menards. Command™ products can also be found at a variety of other stores including grocery, hardware, office supply, and craft.

A Mouse Can Make A Difference

By Diane Albright CPO, Organizing Expert and Speaker
January 22nd, 2009

A laser wireless mouse (as opposed to a non-laser mouse) is quicker, smoother, and oh so much better than a regular mouse. The laser mouse glides right along with such precision. I feel in love with Microsoft’s wireless laser mouse two years ago. I was so thrilled with the difference that this mouse made, I bought this type of mouse for every computer I had at home and work.

Then, a few months ago I ordered a new laptop and much to my surprise feel in love with yet a faster mouse. This mouse is wired, something I am normally opposed to. But, my Toshiba wired laser mouse is really the ultimate for me. It moves faster than any other mouse I have used and oh it glides so smoothly. It is a tiny little mouse so it is very lightweight. I was apprehensive about purchasing a small mouse, but now I wouldn’t purchase anything but a small mouse. The larger mice now seem clunky and hard to move.

If you are at all like me and have a passion for saving time, consider switching your mouse and donating your old one to a school or charity. I truly believe I save time when using my small laser mouse. In most cases I think the smaller the better, but I’ll let you be the judge!
